Every year the Order of The Crimson Rose sends out informational packages
to area law enforcement agencies in order to provide basic education concerning
the religion of Witchcraft/Wicca. Please take the time to read the enclosed
material and pass the information on to your local training personnel.
Witches come from all walks of life. Not only are there Witches in your town
or city, there may indeed be some on your street or in your department. Many
Witches/Wiccans are quiet about their beliefs because of the fear of
discrimination resulting from the centuries of negative stereotypes and
misinformation that surround our religion. The law clearly states that
Witchcraft/Wicca is a legally recognized religion for First and Fourteenth
Amendment protection. While there may be some that disagree with our religious
practices, we are law abiding members of a diverse society and are guaranteed
the right to freedom of religion and equal protection under the law. These
rights have already been established in the legal system of the United States.
Please advise your law agents that they must provide the same protection
and rights to Witches that all other Americans enjoy.
Unfortunately, acts of discrimination can and do occur against Witches in
your community. The prompt response of your law agents to reports of this
type is essential if we are to stem the tide of religious intolerance and
prevent possible acts of violence or vandalism against those who are in the
minority. Please include this information in all your training programs.
We know you will respond in a professional manner to all requests for assistance
from the Witches/Wiccans in your area and we include this statement solely
for the purpose of emphasizing how serious this issue has become in some
areas of the country. On our part, we will gladly work with you to provide
additional educational resources and/or speakers for your training programs.
